Skincare products can be quite expensive, especially when one is putting together an entire facial or body skin conditioning protocol. While it's important to use skincare products in the manner and portion allowances specified by the manufacturer, often however, it is possible to conserve product simply by applying it a particular fashion or order.  For example, applying your facial exfoliator or enzyme treatment during your shower, will save time and may allow better for better penetration of the product due to the steamy shower environment! (just be sure to keep the product out of your eyes!) Read on and see what could work for you!

1. Exfoliate and Cleanse: I exfoliate and cleanse while in the shower.

The heat helps to dilate the pores enabling the products to better penetrate the skin

and it saves you a step at the sink.  TIP: Don't forget to pat your skin to remove excess water before you exfoliate.   Products I Love: Naturopathica Oat Cleansing Facial Polish for exfoliation Naturopathica Aloe Cleansing gel for gentle acne control Naturopathica Manuka Honey Cleansing Balm for gentle makeup removal (not that I'm wearing much makeup these days) and for added hydration 2. Serum application: I apply serums directly after I've showered.  I like to apply them while my skin is still slightly dewy, making it easier for me to use the accurate amount (actually a little bit less:) of one of the higher priced items in my routine.  I treat serums like tonics for my skin.  I seek different serums to combat specific issues I may be experiencing at different times of life and lately my issue has been hydration.  Products I love: Restorsea Renormalizing Serum. Its creamy texture glides across the skin effortlessly easily reaching all corners of the face with minimal product.  It leaves my skin feeling so hydrated and soft that sometimes, I forget to put on my moisturizer afterwards! Naturopathica Alpine Rose Recovery Serum is my once a month secret weapon.  It's a delicious 7 day treatment that really provides a boost in hydration that lasts! 3. Facial Mists add yet another round of hydration in my daily routine but they can also have a few more uses contingent upon their ingredients.  I use them as toners, sealers for my makeup, hydration in the moment, as a cool mist to calm my skin when it's overheated, and for aromatherapy. Products I love: Naturopathica's Lavender and Honey Balancing Mist Naturopathica Oat and Calendula Soothing Jelly Mist I often create my own mist with distilled water and some pure essential oil like Rose, Lavender or Tea Tree.
